The Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department took time on Tuesday, January 13th, to reflect on the previous year with our annual Appreciation Dinner & Awards Ceremony. The spaghetti and meatball dinner was coordinated by Secretary/Treasurer Mandi Mischnick and she was assisted by Jamie Osborne and Michele Mischnick.
In 2025, the Pleasant Grove VFD responded to 202 calls for service both serving their primary coverage area as well as assisting our neighboring departments with mutual aid. User call response percentages were as follows: Alasdair Duke-13%, Darrell Miles-17%, Caroline Duke-20%, Arthur Duke-27%, Don Mischnick-27%, Mandi Mischnick-38%, Jose Rios-45%, Don Cannon Jr-49%, Mark Mahan-59%, and Scott Mischnick-71%.
Pleasant Grove VFD recognized four members for their service and dedication in 2025. The Mike Askew Maintenance Master Award is for work done on the station and Apparatus and was presented to Mark Mahan. The Great Strides Award is presented for self improvement in the fire service and was awarded to Caroline Duke. The Chief’s Award is chosen by the Fire Chief and was awarded to Arthur Duke for his excellent attitude. The Firefighter of the Year Award was sponsored this year by WoodmenLife and is voted on by the fire department membership. The Firefighter of the Year for 2025 is Mandi Mischnick.
