In honor of America’s 250th birthday, there will be 4th of July activities and events held at the Big Sandy Park. Members of Pleasant Grove VFD are grilling hamburgers and hot dogs to be sold during the celebration. The PGVFD food stand is part of its annual fundraising efforts. WoodmenLife is sponsoring the stand and will also be helping to man it on Saturday. From 2-6 p.m., event-goers can stop by the stand for a meal. The annual parade and fireworks show will follow the activities at the park. PGVFD is also selling raffle tickets as part of its fundraiser. Tickets are $5 and include such prizes as a Big Green Egg grill, donated by ACE Hardware in Hawkins, and a handmade king-size quilt. Big Sandy Mayor Linda Baggett will draw the winning raffle tickets at 6 p.m.
